  • The Open Orders Enquiry is used to give the current view of all open orders, including refunds, returns, credits and deposits - all transactions which represent a financial commitment by or on the company. It is run by branch managers and assistant managers, regional managers and more senior head office staff.
  • The purpose of this job is the development of one single process which will select each branch in turn and produce a single flat file containing the open order details for all branches together. The process will run overnight and create a file which will be loaded into a Business Objects database.
  • This job will introduce the concept of the ‘phantom’ process, which will enable several branches to be processed concurrently rather than consecutively. This is necessary because the increasing number of branches could make eventual completion of the overnight run longer than the time available

Responsibilities:

  • As part of the PCI:DSS Compliance project all payment card systems must meet strict security standards, that are independently audited. Included in the standards is the storage of card data, no sensitive data can be stored and card numbers (also known as PANs) must be either encrypted or masked.
  • While new transactions will have all sensitive card data either removed, encrypted or masked, there remains a problem with historical data. There are several files on the system that currently hold the full card number in plain text. Under PCI:DSS this is no longer acceptable.
